Every time a major balance hits, pre-patch guides need to be obsoleted in some way. Currently the guides system is filled with tons of obsolete guides from last summer and fall using traits that have been drastically changed in subsequent major balance patches (Sept and Dec iirc). Some of them even remain highly rated and show up at the top when you filter/sort by rating, even though they're no longer possible to use.
Easy way to do this - Just record the date of every major balance patch, like the last one was Dec 10th 2013, then mark/flag all guides created before those dates as non-current, using a special icon or something. If the guide creator believes nothing major changed for their particular class, they can go back in and manually remove that flag.
That way we know 1) the guide is being maintained, and 2) the author took enough time to log in and unflag it meaning it's still being maintained and kept up to date to some extent. If the guide doesn't get unflagged, we'll know it's either obsolete or abandonned, or both.
Or course, there may be better ways, just a suggestion for a way that seems easy without taking too much dev time.

We'd at least have to add an email sent to the author to let them know about it, but that could work. I'll see about getting it added after we finish the stuff we're working on now.
